King of the TV Movie

After an extremely lazy weekend, with afternoons/evenings on Saturday and Sunday spent on the couch watching TV and playing video games, I have come to a realization. Nicholas Cage is King of the TV Movie. Now this is not made-for-tv-movies, but just movies that get shown on TV. I swear that a movie of his was on every hour of the day on either FX, TBS, TNT, USA, or some other station. I kid you not. Leaving Las Vegas, Con Air, Gone in 60 sec., City of Angels, and WindTalkers (or walkers, or whatever that awful WWII movie with the Indians was). It was nuts.

Just a little observation of mine. Keep you eyes peeled, you never know what useless piece of information you may come up with.

A night of weird dreams

So, last night (after being a good grandson and visiting my grandma for 1 1/2 hrs.), I watched Alien vs. Predator (by myself, because my friends all claimed it to be a stupid movie without ever viewing it). I was again very pleased with the movie despite the plot holes. I only wish that there would have been 1 more one-on-one fight between an alien and predator. The one fight is awesome....but that's not the reason I post.

Here's the reason. Last night I had 3 odd dreams. This is extraordinary for me, because I normally don't remember any of my dreams at all. So here's the gist of them:

1) I put myself in the AVP movie. Nuff said.

2) Walking around some ruins with friends, when 1 (my studdy buddy) gets bit by a rattlesnake. We take her home and have the Dr. come over and she gets all better by the end of the dream.

3) I come home from bowling and a friend is there. It turns out she wants to get married right there in my house. It was really really odd. Don't worry, I didn't rush in and I awoke before any sort of ceremony took place.

Now, I'm not Freud, nor believe much of his psychobabble, but these were some freakin' weird dreams. I'm not crazy, and I am not about to try and interpret them.

Let's wish for more nights of dreamless nights. I like those more.

A flurry of activity

As you may have noticed, I've made posts every day in the recent past. This in repsonse to some chiding from a friend of mine. Anyway, despite having class in the very near future, I'm making another post. So, if you are just checking in after a few days, read below and catch up. Here's the thing most on my mind now.

Yesterday after class, I got home and was looking to enjoy my afternoon. When at 3:30ish I get a call from CVS. I was expecting one to get some hours starting next week. After talking for a minute and explaining what I'm looking for, I was asked to come in. After a quick contemplating thought, I agreed and was at work by 4:45. I worked until 10. I again have to go in and work a 5-10 shift today. Every time I work, I realize that I do NOT want to do retail as a career. It is so repititiously mind-numbing.

Alright, that's all. Until next time, I shall be....Superman.

Who needs sleep?

Apparently, not me. For some reason, I only managed to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 hours of sleep last night. It really kind of stunk. I was laying in bed, wanting to sleep, but alas, it was elusive. I could not catch it. I got in bed by 11:30 or so, and turned on the TV around 12:45. I ended up watching City of Angels on TBS (with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan). I'd never seen this movie before and didn't mind it (too chick flicky, but hey, it was the middle of night). Some interesting things, but all-in-all not awful. About 20 minutes after the movie ended, I finally managed to fall asleep....just to wake up at 6:45 AM for class.

Traditionally, I tend to get sick when I get less than 4 hours of sleep. That is one tradition I hope to break this time around. The gameplan is lots of sleep tonight and try to "catch up" (as a pharmacy major, I know it is impossible to catch up on sleep, but I'm hoping a good long night's rest will allow my body to recover and fight off any impending infections).

Alrighty, time to bum the net while waiting on class. (3 for 3 Benson!!!)

I like Movies

I consider myself a bit of a movie guy. I really enjoy going to the movies (occasionally...too expensive to make it habit), I rent movies on a regular basis, and I own a fair number of movies myself. After perusing the Sunday ads from Circuit City and Best Buy, I saw a couple of movies that peaked my interest. So, I stopped by this morning to make my selections. Here was the gameplan: AVP (Alien vs. Predator) for $14.99, 3 for $30: Forrest Gump, Saving Pvt. Ryan, and then something else that jumped at me, and The Rock for $7.49. However, they were sold out of The Rock and Saving Pvt. Ryan. Thereby, my only purchase was Alien/Predator (a really cool movie).

Thinking about movies got me considering my top 10 Movies of all time. So here's the list (in somewhat correct order...some may move up an down as needed).

10) Crimson Tide... this one probably should rank higher, but it is in the same category with the Rock...a great movie...more dramatic...excellent.

9) Remember the Titans... one of the best dramas out there and a great message

8) Die Hard...while I don't actually own it, this is like the Rock in that I can watch it over and over without getting tired of it...plus it is also the greatest Christmas movie of all time.

7) The Lord of the Rings...like Star Wars these are lumped together...they rate lower because of their length (hurts the rewatchability)

6) We were soldiers...another war movie, great flick

5) Saving Pvt. Ryan...this movie rocks, lots of action and NO love story

4) Gladiator...another quality epic movie with great action

3) Star Wars movies...since it's one story, I'm lumping them together here...They are really cool...plus when you grow up with my brother, you have to like them. In order of my preferences: A new hope (Episode IV), Episode II, Empire strikes back (episode V), Return of the jedi (episode VI), and Episode I (way way in the back of the pack)

2) The Rock...when I think of a fun movie to watch and that can be watched over and over again without getting old, this is what I think of

And the greatest of all time...

1) Braveheart...just an awesome movie. A little bit of love story (it works though) and lots of cool action and a great story overall.

There you have it. And 2 days with consecutive posts (are you happy Benson?).

Sorry for the delay

It's not that I didn't want to post, but the internet and I have been on a "break." And by break I mean, that internet at my house is not working because of my computer being stupid (the modem has been disabled and won't turn back on...and AOL says I have a broadband connection when the only cord I have plugged in is a phone line...go figure). Plus, over the weekend, campus computers were not accessing non-Butler sites, so I was unable to post then. I did type up a post last week, but when I went to publish, the site froze and the post was lost. Anyway, I'm back...for now...no telling when the next post might be. So, I'll make this good with some thoughts/events.

Blockbuster - I'm glad they did away with late fees (I guess), but I believe the prices went up to compensate. Either that, or the Blockbusters in Speedway and on N. Keystone just price differently. In Speedway I could rent new releases for $2.65 for 1 night. Now, no late fees and at N. Keystone, a weeks rental is $3.60. One whole buck. I always return the next day, so I get screwed out of this deal.

Butler Dynasty - I'm currently 17-2....and Unranked!!! That's horsecrap. My two losses were early in the season...I'm on a 11 game win streak. Granted my competition in the Horizon league is slim-to-none, but still. 17-2, I should get some love. My shooting guard (#3..based off Bruce Horan) is 3rd in the nation in points, and first in steals.

Sony products - I came to the realization that I like Sony brand electronics. 50% of my major electronics are Sony. Including my Mini-disc player, my PDA, and my Playstation 2. The non-Sony products are my TV, computer, and clock radio. In addition, my first ever electronic purchase (with my own money) was a Sony Walkman cassette player.

Cold weather sucks...nuff said.

Alright, I guess that's all for now. I do hope to do this more often, but I make no promises.

Back in Indy

Well, the long long break away from school has come to an end. My month long vacation is over and now it is back to the daily grind. The early returns show this semester to be slightly less taxing than the previous ones. This is very good, because up until now, every semester has gotten harder than the last. I've moved my stuff into my cousin's house and I believe that things should work out ok. As long as I have my PS2 to keep me company (game library includes: Madden 05, NCAA March Madness 05, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, GTA 3, Metal Gear Solid 3: Sons of liberty, and a mindless shooting game whose name escapes me right now). I'll be honest and let you know, I have not yet played the last 2 games listed. By comparison, they don't excite me all that much.

Some slightly sad news, my cousin only has dial-up at his house. This means I will not be getting online near as frequently. In fact, my online trips may be few and far between. Therefore, if you only access this site via my AOL IM buddy info, I would recommend bookmarking it, so you can check up on me frequently.

That's it...and remember....don't judge a Mona Lisa by the frame.

So I lied

about posting more regularly. I thought that being on break and not working, I would have all day to think up topics and post my thoughts...whoops...that didn't pan out quite like that did it? I'm sure I've thought up topics, but never got around to posting them. Oh well, maybe sometime in the future. Anyway, I'll go ahead and give an update on the goings on in the life of ME. Here's the highlights:

Bowling - I've bowled... a lot. Thrown the ball well, scored decent, still need a bit of work on concentrating on every shot (ie spares).

PS2 - I'm now the proud owner of one. Target in Evansville finally had some in stock. Circuit city, best buy, and other stores were still sold out though. I also made 2 game purchases, Madden 2005 and NCAA Basketball 2005 (EA sports). Quality games. Currently good ole BU is 5-1 with a major win over Georgia Tech (ranked 5th at the time), but a loss to Alabama A&M (go figure). I also bought a 3rd party controller and memory card (16 mb for the price of the Sony brand 8 mb).

That's about it. Between bowling and playing video games, I'm pretty much busy. Dragging my feet on doing stuff for school though. I really need to get motivated and do it. Wanna pass some my way...float a loan...spread the wealth...lend some change...you know help a brotha out?

Ok, I'm outie. Gonna enjoy the next 3 days of not being at school and get some laundry done here at home. Back in Indy on the 17th.

The Fam is back

So, here's the deal, the Mom and the Sis have returned from their Holiday trip to England. They seem to have greatly enjoyed their time there. I guess the inlaws aren't any odder than our own clan. It was kinda cool (a bit weird and mushy....but cool) to see my Mom and Dad together after being apart for 2 weeks (the longest time they've ever spent apart since getting married.... 30 years +/-). Kristen took 151 pictures on her digital camera and 2 rolls on a normal camera (when the batteries ran out), so I'll have some stuff to look at. Anyway, we've got a week to hang out as a family until Kristen heads back up to school.

In case your curious, Weather in England is like living in a cave. It's between 40 and mid 50's every day. It's also damp, gray, and dreary everyday. Sounds wonderful, huh? I believe Kristen and Mom brought the weather back with them. Yesterday and today is supposed to be just as previously described. In other words, I'm not looking for a timeshare over there or anything.
