Kyle Johnson, RPh

I know I've not posted in a while, but I have a really good excuse. I've been working...as a licensed registered pharmacist. Yep, I passed both of my test (with flying colors) and am official. So, I've been working the overnight (10 pm - 8 am) shifts for the Evil Empire (aka Walgreen's). I must say I am looking forward to that paycheck. Anyway, due to my overnight workings, and daytime sleepings, I have not been doing much of anything. It's a pretty good gig, work for about 6-7 hours, read for 2-3 hours. Not too shabby. Well, I'm off tonight and work again this weekend (at time and a half). Yippee!!

Ok, well, I've got to run!! Now you know what I've been up to.

More Movie Reviews

Ok, so I have recently rented several movies and will enlighten my reading public with my thoughts on them. In the recent past, I have seen 4 new movies, and here are my thoughts in order from worst movie to best.

The Matador: Really really bad! For being so highly reviewed by professional critics (must be a nice job), it really sucked. The story is so-so, nothing really special. There is slim to no action, which makes it solely a character/dialogue movie. However, the dialogue is not witty and the characters are kinda ho-hum. Pierce Brosnan wasn't terrible, but on a whole it was a 1 1/2 hr movie that felt like 2 1/2. Final rating: 1.5 out of 4 stars, wait for TNT to show it...only if there is nothing else on (including Scrabble championships on ESPN2).

Find Me Guilty: Primarily this movie showed that Vin Disel can actually do a non-action movie. His perfomance was ok, the story is interesting, but it really isn't funny. It was advertised as the funniest courtroom movie since My Cousin Vinny. All in all, I think I liked My Cousin Vinny better (of course that movie did have the Karate Kid in it). Final rating: 2 out of 4 stars, wait for HBO.

Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang: A decent movie with some fairly witty dialogue at times. I think the story and set-up are pretty good and well done. But there are draw-backs. Too much forced artsy-fartsy stuff and way too many f-bombs. There are several scenes that are hysterical, but not enough to redeem it as a need to see. Final rating: 2.5 out of 4 stars, rent only if you are desparate and the movie(s) you really wanted to see are checked out.

Annapolis: The best of my recently viewed movies. This movie is kind of a mix of Rudy, Men of Honor, and Rocky. But not as feel good as Rudy and Rocky, but I enjoyed it more than Men of Honor. The main character is kind of hot/cold. Sometimes you really really like him, and others you kinda think what a jerk. It is basically a against the odds movie and you do root for him in the end. Final rating: 3 out of 4 stars, a decent choice of rentals (especially if Glory Road is checked out)

There you have it. All the news that's fit to print.

PS. 3 weeks left in Indy.

Battlefront Marathon!!!!

So today, my brother and I did something we have joked about for quite some time...a Star Wars Battlefront II Marathon. We loaded all maps, all modes (conquest, capture the flag, hunt, assault, etc.), and all eras (Rebels/empire, clones/droids). We started playing around 9:30 this morning, had a break at 11:30 for my sister-in-law's car trouble (and lunch...took us til 2:00), then played again until 6ish for a bottlerocket break, then back to playing until 8:45 for supper (Slyders!!!!!), then back to playing. We are down to one map left, so we will finish around 11:15 pm. One heckuva good time!!!

I do believe this catches me up on my video game quota for some time. Tomorrow, I run to Terre Haute to get my car licensed and titled and whatnot. Then who knows what...hopefully hear back and can start working as a full real pharmacist.

Well, I believe more Stormtroopers need to die! Best multiplayer game....fo' sure!

The 4th of July!!!

I celebrated a very nice 4th of July. For starters, I didn't have to work...which is always the start to a good day. Then my parents came in town for lunch (at Red Lobster). Always nice to get foo....I mean see the fam. Then I went and studied for a little bit (for my NAPLEX tomorrow). Then back to my sisters for a cookout. On the way, I stopped and picked up the entertainment for the evening...aka fireworks. It was nice. Also, I am now in possession of lots and lots of bottle rockets...I think my brother and I will have to celebrate later...he he he. The cookout itself was very good. I (and the Brit) were in charge of the grilling and we grilled up a ton of food....and it was all very good. My sister made tons of good desserts too. It was really good and fun.

I worked on Wednesday. And today, I studied this afternoon then came over to a friends for some Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby (and dinner). We traded homers for the longest time, but then in the last inning I was down, then hit a homer to tie. In the extra innings, my buddy hit 4 dingers. I hit two, then had my 3 outs. In the end I lost by two.

The food is ready and they are yelling at me. Time to go!!!!

One test down....two to go

At this point, I've completed my first step to being a licensed pharmacist. I've taken the MPJE (aka. law test) for IN. Up next, the NAPLEX (aka. the board) which will count for both IN and CO. The final test (which I probably won't take until first of August or so) is the the MPJE for CO. After the NAPLEX, I will be licensed in IN and after the MPJE for CO, I will be licensed in CO. So, right now it is time for me to study....yeah right, I'll look over things, but not really study too hard. Just enough to pass!! No, I'm playin'...but I'll be fine.

Ok, tomorrow is the 4th, so I'm going to pick up some fireworks, and then celebrate our country's freedom over at my sister's house....and I believe we will force the Brit to celebrate too. Ha Ha, the colonies won!!!!
